Tahini or not Tahini
I have to start by saying that my mother tries to be a vegan. That being said, I try to support her. I enjoy tofu smoothies. I LOVE veggies. Anytime she wants to go to the Healthy Grocer into the car I go.
My mother enjoys a good Hummus... she started to like it when she started to dislike meat.
Armed with her brand new Cuisinart Food Processor and Veganomics cook book we set out to create home-made hummus. Chick Peas? Check. Is there anything called a Guy Pea, because that would be pretty funny. We could have a little pea marriage.
I am new to vegan food. I had to ask what Tahini was. Of course, Mum explains it is Sesame seed paste. Well, out of the cupboard she pulls a jar of something that looks a lot like peanut butter. In reality it is Sunflower Seed butter... NOT sesame seed paste.
The creative ladies that we are, we decide to give it a shot. What is the worst that could happen, right?
So we pour in the beans, pulse a few times, and scrape down the edges. *Side Note: Do not scrape all the way to the bottom or the rubber spatula will get caught in the blades*
Next we throw in the Sunflower butter, and a little peanut butter. Mom heard you could add a little of that to the hummus.
Add some Garlic Oil to save ourselves from using whole garlic and olive oil.
Pulse, scrape, pulse... what's that smell?
hmm, Hummus doesn't usually smell like this.
Taste it! No, you taste it!
Fingers go in...
OH, ECH, UGH... "That is NOT GOOD"

The taste test causes an incredible laughing fit for the two of us. We could not convince Dad to try it. He is too clever to get mixed up with our shenanigans.
Today's Lessons: Sunflower does not equal sesame. Read labels very carefully before adding ingredients to the mixer.
I have a feeling it will be a while before we try to make hummus again.

Ambassador Allicia
I was just chosen as the Ambassador to The Catholic Guy Show (4pm-7pm Eastern, on The Catholic Channel/ Sirius 159 and XM 117) so I imagine that I will have to start blogging more. I guess I got the answer to the question "what will I blog about"
For those who don't know the website is
http://www.linorulli.com/catholic-guy.htm
which states "The premise is simple: A funny Catholic radio show"
I have no idea what this "ambassadorship" will entail, but I know it will be fun!

the Blind leading the Blind
I have my first blog follower. I feel pretty awesome about this; however, I am cautiously optimistic. I don't want to let my fan (yes singular) down. I have plenty of ideas written down in various notebooks that could become perfectly suitable blog topics. I simply have to get my ass to the chair and start typing. I suppose I can swear since it is my blog and we have the freedom of speech here.. I suppose our founding fathers didn't anticipate that amendment being used to cover my uncreativity, but they are dead now so too bad for them.
I realize I have gone on a tangent and I apologize. I blame it on the growling belly.
I was very excited when I had my first comment on a blog post a while back and I am just as excited to have my first follower. I hope I am inspired to continue putting nonsense into the world wide web.
Thanks for reading me,
Alli

camera crazy
So, I got a new camera yesterday. Shout out to BestBuy. I am totally obsessed with taking pictures now, I think I need to buy a super pack of AA Batteries. I have taken 8 pictures of my parents livingroom looking for orbs. I found like 30 in one shot and then one or two in all the rest. I am fascinated, I will continue my orb quest!
FYI, the cam is Insignia, which I guess is a BestBuy brand, 7.0 megapixels and wicked cool. It takes really clear pictures. I will play with it a few more days before I go to the website to rate it. I think I'm still in love with the purchase and need to take off the rose colored glasses for a real product review.
Back to my photo-ventures. I don't know why it took me so long to actually purchase a camera, I love taking pictures. Totally random things inspire me. Its the artist in my soul, I love painting and drawing but sometimes they take so long to be a finished product, a photo is instant.
I know my posts are kind of rambling sometimes, but I promise to get better with time.

Bad Date, Good Lessons
K, so its my first Date-date since the ex. Grated, it has been like 8 months, I was ready to move on before we broke up-it was about time. Went for drinks, was a good place to play pool-except we didnt play pool. I was very bored, luckily there was a Phillies game on at the bar. I have learned that I do not like to be felt up (okay okay I already knew that) but I do not find it appropriate to put one's hands all over my leg and back, boob-graze not enjoyed. Slightly annoyed with the constant attempts to kiss me... I thought the first kiss was reserved for the end of the night when I'm being walked back to my car--will we kiss or won't we. There's no mystery... I mean you don't need to mention that playing with my hair is a sign of interest-I play with my hair CONSTANTLY-I play with it at my desk, on the phone, in the car, it had nothing to do with the guy I did not find attractive. Oh, and yeah NO ONE likes it when someone talks to the breasts.. they don't talk back so if you want a conversation do not stare at my chest.
I left the date feeling very frustrated that I had gotten all dolled up for nothing, well ok, I got a vodka-cranberry out of it. Geez, I had to tell him I would go out with him again just so he would let me get in the car and leave.
Lesson learned-be careful what you wish for.

WTF, LOL
Its cool when people type things like "lol, wtf, brb" but do not say them out loud in conversation. what is up with that? Like is it that hard, really, to use actual words?
yes or no questions
yes, I have a blog. yes, I want to use it. No, I don't have anything clever to say today.
